It is time to get real with you.
Dreams do not “come true”.
I am going tell you why in a second, but first let me tell you what happened about eight weeks ago.
My husband and I just landed in South Africa with our kids, after months of living in separate countries. We were ecstatic to be together.
I knew he had to leave again shortly to finish up some work abroad, so I was trying to take in every day we had together as a family.
While the boys were playing soccer outside of our temporary housing, I took this moment of quiet to peek at an email from a partner organization I do work for.
Here is the gist of what I discovered, “Sundae, the client you did the global collaboration training for would like you to do the leadership training in India this October. Are you available?”
I stared at the screen trying to take it in.
Me in India?! (Those who know me best can attest to the fact that I´ve been dreaming of going to India for over 15 years.)
Being flown to India on my own for a workshop? Even better!
It´s like a dream come true, but it´s not.
Dreams don´t come true – they are created.
The genesis of this dream can be traced back to as far as 2003, when I spent a year filtering through graduate school applications and writing entrance essays. Ahead of me lay years of hard work, perseverance, clarity on what I wanted, consistency in action and a few hefty time and financial investments.
That is the unsexy truth of how dreams come true.
- Taylor Swift started out singing at local fairs.
- Elizabeth Gilbert worked as a waitress before she became a well-known writer.
- Renée Zellweger got started doing beer commercials.
You start somewhere and then commit to taking action consistently.
I could be wrong, but my hunch is that you are not an aspiring Hollywood actress. But maybe you do want to be happy. Feel fulfilled. Do your own thing.
Regardless of the goal, the same recipe applies. You:
- Get clear on what you want.
- Create a plan on how to get it.
- Take consistent action.
- Lean on others for support when you need it.
- Get creative when surprises are thrown your way.
- Celebrate your big and small successes.
I know this can feel a bit daunting. But, do you know what´s worse than daunting? Feeling stuck.
I also understand it´s hard to stir up the motivation to change status quo. (We all struggle to find the motivation to put on jogging shoes from time to time!)
So today here is what I want to say to you:
You are worth the effort.
Transforming your life into what you have been craving is always worth it.
It is time to step away from the sidelines of your life and get into the game.
You spending your time and energy in ways that feel fulfilling? That´s the stuff that dreams are made of.
So if you are struggling to know where to begin or who to turn to get started, take heart. That is what I´m here for.
There are only a few spots left for the Year of Transformation one-to-one coaching experience, and you have to apply. (Applying doesn’t obligate you to commit to working together.) This is me by your side every step of the way as you create the life you have been longing for.
The spots are filling up, so if you have been on the fence about this, contact me now so we can hop on the phone, understand your challenges and get your questions answered.
This is the first step in creating the life, till now, you’ve only dreamed of.
We have got work to do, so let´s get started!
